Bio

I was born in Sorengo, Switzerland on March 3rd 1978. Besides being my place of birth, I have no tie with Switzerland. Both my parents originally come from Bergamo, in the north of Italy, and I spent the first 16 years of my life there. In 1993 my dad’s family moved to Maremma (Tuscany, in the center of Italy) where I spent 8 years. In Tuscany I finished high school and then started college in Siena. During that time I met my closest friends and I had the chance to enjoy the countryside and the ocean. The years were priceless.

In 2000 I spent 6 months in Eleuthera, a little island in the Bahamas. I was in charge of the entertainment program of a 5 star Caribbean resort. So far, that was the most incredible and surreal experience of my life. Thinking back, in those months I can track the first rudimentary elements of my love for acting and performing. The weekly schedule was extremely demanding and my job was to constantly entertain people — something of a challenge. At that time I was forced to develop myself as a character, a comedian, a sports performer, a singer, and a dancer almost 24/7. No sleep. Seriously.

In 2001 I moved to Rome and I had the chance to work on some mainstream Italian movies. Finally I was on set. My passion for filmmaking was getting stronger.  In 2002 I decided to attend film school at the New York Film Academy. A very disappointing and unprofessional experience. The next year I was hired from NYFA to run summer workshops in Florence from 2003 through 2004. There I met Justin Lee Peterson, my friend and accomplice in filmmaking. In 2005 I graduated in Communication at “La Sapienza” University of Rome. Then I packed my things and I moved to New York.

Talking about why I love the world of movies, I have to say that since the age of seven my attention has been irreversibly captured by films. Everything started back then. It felt like somebody was holding my hand and taking me to explore the pleasure of letting my fantasies run free. That was and is my ideal world. Plenty of emotions to give and take. Right after a good film, coming out of a movie theater is always been weird, almost disappointing to me.Early in my career I thought about directing as the most ambitious, creative and desirable goal in filmmaking — but lately I’ve discovered the acting world makes me feel closer to my original relationship to movies.  Surprisingly I’ve found out that when I act I have the chance to lose myself in the moving picture. It’s like a transportation. I’m hypnotized. And when I’m done shooting it becomes a relief knowing that from that day on, in some way a side of me will belong to that magic world.

Sadly on July 7th 2007 my dearest friend Justin Lee Peterson passed away at only 27 years old. I was deeply changed by that painful and tragic experience. My life was at a turning point. Later in 2007 fall I decided to interview and eventually enroll in the 2 year conservatory “professional acting training program” at the William Esper Studio, New York.
